Everyone advances toward something. Even if we’re moving extremely slow, we’re still moving. The driven and the lazy are both moving towards something, but at different speeds and different directions.
As a follower of Christ, my goal is to advance toward Him and advance his kingdom in the world. My spiritual life must not be housed in a safe retreat but it must be an advancing force led by the Spirit. There are times for solitude and contemplation, but even those are a different manifestation of advancement in a different stage. The Christian life must be defined by movement. The movement of God. The humble and obedient movement of His children. Physics says that anything that is without motion is immobile, stationary, or has a constant position. That doesn’t depict the abundant life that Christ offers. It’s exciting because its moving. It’s an adventure because we’re advancing with the Creator of the universe.
If you’ve read my blog before this “renaming”, you’ll notice the content won’t change dramatically. My main purpose is to write about worship, theology, music and church history with the occasional cultural observation along the way. The goal is to chronicle God’s advancement in my life and my own advancement towards him (along with my failures!). Hopefully this helps you on your journey as well.
How do I make this advancement towards God? Only through the redemptive work of Jesus.
…because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. (Hebrews 10:14)
